There are many un-Biblical churches and so-called "Christian" cults but there are also many churches which preach God's truth as revealed in the Holy Bible. God commands through the writer of Hebrews (probably the apostle Paul):
"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." - Hebrews 10:25
Belonging to a Bible based church gives the believer many ways to serve the Lord
Christians today experience all kinds of abuse and discrimination. God knows there is comfort in the gathering together of fellow believers in Jesus.

Also, the 2 sacraments Jesus commanded of a Bible believing church - baptism of the new believer and Holy Communion should only be practiced within the confines of a church with a Pastor who meets the requirements laid out in the New Testament.
All you have to do is look to Africa, the Middle East and beyond to see where believers meet together in spite of deadly persecution from their country's governments.
The sad truth is that the US through USAID and other agencies is currently persecuting churches in other countries such as Syria and Ukraine.
