Trump is trying to avoid a major war possibly leading to a world wide war where many many people die, infrastructure demolished, far more suffering than empty store riots. There is no scenario where Iran gets the bomb because they all lead to death. War or sanctions, I think the latter is far more reasonable. Yes the Chinese are one generation away from a time of poverty so they can cope but their society is far more fragile. I will be outed if he does not start negotiating.
